Arizona is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. It offers many running trails and hiking trails. Some run along the outskirts of Phoenix, some are around the Grand Canyon, and others are in Sedona. All offer a beautiful view as well as a physical challenge for those looking for more.

The state of Arizona has a lot to offer when it comes to running, hiking, biking, and walking. Here are ten of the best running trails.

Safety always comes first. Several important considerations before heading out on your run: notify someone where you’re going and when to expect you back, pack granola bars and water, and be sure to monitor changing weather conditions. Run with a friend or a group remember safety first.


 

1. Grand Canal


The Grand Canal Path is one of the longest trails in Phoenix and connects three large cities in the area by following an old canal. It was built in 1878 and remains the oldest canal north of the Salt River

There are two sides to the canal trail. One side is paved for people who use it for walking and jogging. The other side has a gravel surface and is used mostly by people on horses or people who jog at night. Plans are in the works to improve the paved side of the trail.

2. Dixie Mountian Loop 4.6 miles

The Rio Salado Pathway is a popular recreational, residential, and commercial destination. The paved pathway stretches along both banks of the Salt River in Tempe.

Thunderbird Conservation Park has close to a dozen easy trails that are perfect for the whole family. They also have trails with more elevation, ranging from 22 to 1,407 feet.
